Anthropic has launched a cheeky ad campaign, suggesting that OpenAI’s ChatGPT might soon be peppered with targeted ads. Picture this: a chatbot dishing out dating site recommendations for better family communication—oh, the hilarity!


Anthropic’s ads end with a bold claim: “Ads are coming to AI. But not to Claude.” While OpenAI’s ChatGPT isn’t directly named, the message is as clear as a chatbot’s favourite algorithm.


Sam Altman from OpenAI, though amused, isn’t thrilled. He’s quick to clarify that OpenAI’s ad strategy will be transparent and won’t interfere with user experience. Ads will be clearly labelled and won’t affect the answers ChatGPT provides. Plus, users will have the option to turn off personalisation or opt for an ad-free plan.
