Say hello to Generative Erase, the latest entrant to the AI photo editing arena, courtesy of Microsoft.

This new feature is set to bring a touch of magic to the Photos app bundled with Windows, offering users the ability to seamlessly modify their images using the power of generative AI.

Generative Erase works like a charm, effortlessly making objects disappear from your photos. Whether it's an intrusive dog leash or unexpected photobombers, this feature can make them vanish as if they were never there.

What sets Generative Erase apart from other AI photo editing tools? The answer is accessibility. Unlike the AI features offered by Google and Samsung, you won't need to purchase a new Pixel or Galaxy to enjoy the benefits of Generative Erase. Microsoft is rolling out this feature not only for Windows 11 but also for Windows 10, including Windows 11 for Arm64 devices. This means more users can take advantage of AI-powered photo editing.

However, there's a small catch. These tools are currently only available to Windows Insiders. Microsoft has started rolling out this update to Windows Insiders across all channels, including those on Windows 10 in the Release Preview Channel. To access these features, users need to update their app to version number 2024.11020.21001.0 or higher.

One question remains unanswered in Microsoft's blog post: will AI-edited photos come with metadata or watermarks to distinguish them from unedited ones? Only time will tell. Until then, let's embrace the magic of AI photo editing that's making our digital lives a little bit more enchanting.
