Yes! We're back with more robots!!

What's so special about these? Well, so far a lot of the debate has been around how good mechanoids really are at learning. If they're to be remotely useful in our homes, for example, then having Tesla's Optimus hand-controlled by humans isn't very helpful (or scalable; or, in fact, pleasant - I wouldn't want Elon's team watching my every move ...)

So here we have Physical Intelligence's Pi0.5, which is specifically trained to be able to assimilate the environment that it's in then take action - and, crucially, without having to be familiar with the home first.

Interestingly, it's not your standard humanoid bot either - looks a bit more like a tall vacuum cleaner with dual nozzles. But it seems to be really smart - just getting on with tidying rooms, wiping up spills and putting dishes away without comment or complaint.

This is the kind of robot that I can really get on board with. You can see its potential real-world impact straight away. It may not win any marathons or party with Kim Kardashian but it's probably going to do some incredibly precise linen-folding.

Can't wait!
