Microsoft is at it again, tinkering away in their tech lab to bring us a shiny new agent, reminiscent of the open-source darling, OpenClaw.

This time, they’re weaving its magic into Microsoft 365 Copilot, aiming to charm enterprise clients with enhanced security features.

OpenClaw, for those not in the know, is like having a digital butler on your computer, ready to perform tasks at your beck and call. Microsoft’s version promises to be just as handy, but with a security twist that’ll make it safer for businesses to use.

This isn’t Microsoft’s first rodeo with agentic tools. Earlier this year, they unveiled Copilot Cowork, a nifty assistant that doesn’t just chat but takes action across Microsoft 365 apps, powered by a clever “Work IQ” technology. They’ve even teamed up with Anthropic’s Claude, a favourite among OpenClaw fans, to give Cowork some extra oomph.

But wait, there’s more! Microsoft also teased us with Copilot Tasks, an agent designed to tackle everything from email organisation to planning your next holiday. It’s like having a personal assistant, minus the coffee runs.

The big question is whether Microsoft’s new Claw will run locally or stick to the cloud. While OpenClaw fans have been snapping up Mac Minis to run their agents, Microsoft might just have a few tricks up its sleeve to win them over.

With whispers of a grand reveal at the Microsoft Build conference, tech enthusiasts are on the edge of their seats. Microsoft remains tight-lipped about the specifics, but assures us they’re focused on making life easier and more secure. Stay tuned, because this tech giant is just getting started!
