Meshy, the innovative startup in AI design, has just unveiled Meshy-4, its latest AI-powered 3D modelling tool.
This new version promises to revolutionise how designers and developers create virtual environments, boasting improved mesh geometry and a redesigned workflow.
After 16 months of development, Meshy co-founder Ethan (Yuanming) Hu expressed his excitement on X.com (formerly Twitter), saying, “When we started Meshy, we couldn’t have imagined coming this far. I’m extremely proud of our team’s achievements.”
AI-Generated 3D Models: Cleaner and Sharper
Meshy-4 addresses a common issue with AI-generated 3D models by producing cleaner surfaces and enhanced geometric details, meeting the high standards required for professional use. The text-to-3D model generation process is now split into two stages: modelling and texturing. This separation gives users more control over their final product and paves the way for future specialised features.
A new “Retry” option for the image-to-3D tool allows users to quickly generate new models if they’re unsatisfied with the initial results, tackling the variability often seen in AI-generated content.

Reshaping Industries: From Games to Architecture
These advancements could significantly impact industries ranging from game development to architectural visualisation. The ability to quickly iterate on designs may speed up project timelines and reduce costs, making high-quality 3D assets more accessible to smaller studios and independent creators.
However, as AI-generated 3D models approach professional quality, questions arise about the future of creative professions. The line between human and machine-generated art is becoming less distinct, prompting a reconsideration of creativity in the digital age and the value placed on traditional artistic skills.
The Future of Creativity: Balancing AI and Human Vision
Meshy-4’s launch comes as demand for 3D content grows, driven by advances in virtual and augmented reality and increasing interest in metaverse concepts. Companies looking to create immersive digital environments will find value in tools that can quickly produce high-quality 3D assets.
The improvements in Meshy-4 reflect the broader trend of AI’s expanding role in creative fields. As machine learning models become more sophisticated, they’re producing results that rival human-created content in some areas. This shift may reshape creative sector jobs, emphasising skills in guiding AI tools rather than traditional modelling techniques.
As AI-assisted 3D modelling tools like Meshy-4 continue to evolve, their impact on the industry will be closely observed. The challenge ahead lies in effectively using these powerful tools while maintaining the unique value of human creativity and artistic vision.
