Meet Tong Tong: The World's First AI Child

The world has just been introduced to its first "AI child", named Tong Tong.

This little bundle of artificial intelligence was developed by the brilliant minds at the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence (BIGAI).

Tong Tong, meaning "Little Girl" in Chinese, made her debut at the Frontiers of General Artificial Intelligence Technology Exhibition. She wowed visitors with her human-like qualities, demonstrating the strides AI technology has made in recent years.

Although Tong Tong is currently confined to the digital realm, she boasts an emotional intelligence and a vocabulary of over 600 words. Just like a human child, she's learning autonomously, soaking up knowledge like a sponge.

Right now, Tong Tong speaks and behaves like a three or four-year-old human. But don't be fooled, this is just the beginning. As she continues to learn, her capabilities are expected to grow exponentially.

What sets Tong Tong apart is her emotional involvement, a feature previously unseen in AI programmes. She's been designed to understand the common sense taught by humans, discern right from wrong and express her attitudes in various situations.

Through the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing, Tong Tong can adapt her actions to the circumstances at hand. For instance, she's been seen tidying up her virtual environment, wiping up spilled milk and straightening a crooked picture frame without being asked.

So, brace yourselves, world. Tong Tong currently speaks and behaves like a 3- or 4-year-old. But with her continuous learning, who knows what the future holds? Maybe even virtual tantrums!
