Cranking up the gears on driver safety, Infineon Technologies and Aurora Labs are joining forces.

Their mission? To supercharge predictive maintenance solutions in the automotive industry. Announced at CES 2024, this partnership is all about leveraging the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to raise the bar on automotive safety.

Infineon, a heavyweight chip maker with a team of 58,600, is teaming up with Aurora Labs, known for its innovative AI-powered solutions. Aurora's Line-of-Code Intelligence (LOCI) AI technology will be integrated into Infineon’s 32-bit TriCore AURIX TC4x family of microcontrollers (MCUs). This combination is set to give automotive manufacturers the tools they need to enhance vehicle safety, reliability, and performance throughout a vehicle’s lifespan.

Zohar Fox, Aurora Labs' CEO, is excited about the partnership, stating it marks a significant stride in using AI-driven automated processes across a vehicle’s software lifecycle. The solution offers real-time monitoring and response to software failures, aligning with WP29 requirements and effectively mitigating malicious attacks and hardware safety failure.

But it's not just about response - it's about prediction. The partnership aims to facilitate predictive safety maintenance using AI capabilities, ensuring a seamless and secure experience for drivers. This solution optimises OEM software development processes, addressing lines-of-code intricacies and hardware peripheral resolutions. The ultimate goal? To enable the development of safer systems in compliance with ASIL-D standards.

Thomas Schneid, a senior director at Infineon, sees the collaboration as a significant step towards enhancing predictive maintenance applications for vehicles. The fusion of Infineon’s established AURIX MCUs with Aurora Labs’ software capabilities ensures an elevated safety level for critical automotive functions, including steering, braking, and airbags.

In a nutshell, it's all about making the roads a safer place. And with AI in the driving seat, the future of automotive safety looks brighter than ever.
