Google's Gemini AI is revving up the future of driving by hitting the road in millions of vehicles.
The tech giant is rolling out Gemini to cars with Google built-in, offering a significant upgrade from the current Google Assistant. This move marks Google's ambitious drive to bring more advanced, conversational AI to the driving experience.
General Motors recently announced that Gemini will be integrated into around 4 million vehicles, including Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC models from 2022 onwards. However, Google’s announcement hints that Gemini's reach won't be limited to GM vehicles alone.
Starting in the U.S., Gemini will initially support English, with plans to expand globally. Excitingly, this AI upgrade isn’t just for new cars. Existing vehicles with compatible systems can also join the party via software updates.

Gemini promises a more natural interaction, allowing drivers to chat with their cars like never before. For those who love a good chat, Gemini Live is in beta, offering open-ended conversations. Just say, “Hey Google, let’s talk,” and dive into brainstorming or learning while cruising.
Drivers signed into their Google accounts will be prompted to upgrade, accessing Gemini through voice, screen, or steering wheel controls. With future updates, expect even deeper integration with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Home. Fasten your seatbelts—Gemini is driving us into the future!
