In an exciting development for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Business users outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK, OpenAI has rolled out a new Library feature.
This nifty addition allows users to save and retrieve files effortlessly, but for now, it's only available on the web.
The Library automatically stores files uploaded or created within ChatGPT, including documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and images. These files are securely saved for easy access later, while generated images continue to appear in the Images tab.
Adding a saved file to a chat is a breeze. Users can simply open the composer menu, select "Add from library," and choose the desired file. The Library can be accessed from the left-hand sidebar, where users can browse or search for files, filtering results by type or origin.

Files remain in the Library until manually deleted. To remove a file, users can select it in the Library tab and click "Delete" or the trash icon. Deleted files are immediately removed from the account and scheduled for permanent deletion within 30 days, unless retention is required for security or legal reasons.
File size restrictions apply: uploaded files have a 512MB limit, text and document files are capped at 2M tokens, CSVs and spreadsheets at around 50MB, and images at 20MB. Files can be downloaded by selecting them in the Library and clicking "Download."
Temporary Chat and ChatGPT Health uploads are not saved, and OpenAI may use files to improve model performance if users opt-in via Settings > Data Controls. This feature marks a step forward in enhancing user experience and file management within ChatGPT.
