Apple and Google may soon be joining forces in a mega-deal that could revolutionise your iPhone experience.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is considering licensing Google's Gemini AI model to enhance features on its iPhones.
This potential partnership would solidify Google's dominant position in the tech world, as it already has a deal with Apple to be the preferred search engine provider for the Safari browser on iPhones.

The report suggests that Apple is keen to introduce AI-powered features with iOS updates later this year, and has also held discussions with OpenAI about possibly using their GPT models.
The pressure is on for Apple to keep pace with its competitors in the AI field, including OpenAI, Microsoft, Anthropic, and Google itself. In February, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the company would introduce GenAI features "later this year."
While Apple has been actively recruiting for AI-related roles over the past year, the company's interest in third-party AI tech suggests its own AI efforts may not be progressing as quickly as hoped.
Apple's own models are expected to power some of the on-device features in the upcoming iOS 18 software update, due to be announced at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) traditionally held in June. However, the company is also exploring partnerships with external providers for generative AI use cases, such as image creation and writing assistance.
Despite recent issues with Gemini, including a pause on its image-generation feature due to historical inaccuracies, Google remains a strong contender for smartphone-related features. Earlier this year, it partnered with Samsung to introduce Gemini-powered AI features on the Galaxy S24 series of devices.
