Apple is joining forces with Anthropic to craft an AI-powered coding tool for Xcode, Apple’s beloved code-writing platform.
According to Bloomberg, this new version will feature Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet model, designed to write, edit, and test code on behalf of programmers. Talk about a coding revolution!
For now, Apple is keeping this gem under wraps, rolling it out internally. The big question remains: will it ever see the light of day for the public? Developers can look forward to a chat interface to enter requests, test user interfaces, and smooth out those pesky bugs. While Apple is playing coy with comments, Anthropic’s spokesperson, Danielle Ghiglieri, is keeping mum too.

In the world of big tech, AI is the coding sidekick everyone wants. Meanwhile, Apple announced “Swift Assist” at WWDC 2024, but it’s still in the wings, waiting for its grand debut.

Oversight for Siri has shifted from AI chief John Giannandrea to Mike Rockwell, the former Vision Pro lead. Exciting times ahead as Apple navigates the AI frontier!
