Amazon is stepping up its delivery game with AI-powered Vision-Assisted Package Retrieval (VAPR) technology for its electric vehicle fleet.

This innovative system uses vision-based tech to help drivers prioritise packages by highlighting them with green circles or red lights, indicating which ones to deliver at each stop.

Gone are the days of drivers rummaging through the van for the right package! VAPR also includes an audio cue to confirm package selection, eliminating the need for handheld devices. This clever system has been in development since early 2020, with Amazon tackling unique delivery challenges like lighting and space constraints inside vans.

Set to roll out on 1,000 electric Rivian vans by early 2025, VAPR has already been quietly tested in markets like Boston. The results? A significant reduction in delivery time, cutting down from two to five minutes per stop to under a minute.

With this tech, Amazon is not just speeding up deliveries but also making the process more efficient and eco-friendly. It's a win-win for drivers and customers alike!
