Lights, camera, AI action! Adobe has just rolled out its Firefly Video Model, bringing a splash of generative AI magic to the video editing world.
Premiere Pro users, rejoice! You can now extend clips and generate videos from images and text prompts with a few clicks.
The star of the show is Generative Extend, a nifty tool in Premiere Pro's beta version that lets you tweak footage by extending it up to two seconds. Say goodbye to pesky retakes for minor mishaps like shifting eye-lines or unexpected movements. It even smooths out audio edits, extending sound effects and ambient tones by up to ten seconds.

But wait, there's more! Adobe's Text-to-Video and Image-to-Video tools are now live as a limited public beta on the Firefly web app. These tools let you conjure up video clips from text descriptions or images, offering a playground for creativity with styles ranging from 3D animation to stop motion. Although the clips max out at five seconds and 720p, they’re perfect for adding flair to projects.
While you won't be crafting feature films just yet, Adobe's tools are "commercially safe," trained on content they’re allowed to use, unlike some competitors. Plus, videos come with Content Credentials, ensuring transparency about AI usage and ownership rights.
Announced at Adobe's MAX conference, these tools are just the beginning of a creative revolution. So, grab your director’s chair and explore the future of video editing with Adobe’s AI-powered wonders!
