Nvidia's latest venture into the CPU market is set to shake things up, with its new RTX Spark chip leading the charge. Unveiled at Taipei’s Computex trade show, this "superchip" promises to revolutionise AI PCs, with big names like Microsoft, Dell, and HP on board to deliver these cutting-edge machines.
The RTX Spark is a powerhouse, boasting 1-petaflop speed and designed to securely run AI agents like OpenClaw and Hermes Agent. This autumn, expect to see these AI-enhanced PCs from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, and MSI, with Acer and Gigabyte following suit.
These PCs aren't just about raw power; they come equipped with secure sandboxes developed with Microsoft, ensuring safe AI agent operations. Plus, they pack enough punch in CPU, GPU, RAM, and Nvidia CUDA software to handle local large language models. Nvidia's RTX tech promises faster AI performance, superior image quality, and support for over 1,000 games and applications.
Nvidia's targeting creators and gamers alike, with over 100 software makers, including Adobe and Xbox, backing the new chip. But CEO Jensen Huang's vision is grander. He sees a $200 billion market in AI CPUs, aiming to transform how we interact with PCs, moving beyond traditional apps to a world of AI agents.
While past Nvidia ARM-based devices stumbled, the RTX Spark is a different beast. Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra, powered by this chip, is touted as the most potent Surface Laptop yet. Pricing details remain scarce, but whether these PCs rival the affordable Mac Mini or sit atop the market, Nvidia's AI push could be monumental.
