Video of the Week: Jeep AI

Hot on the heels of Coke and McDonalds getting an absolute panning for using AI in their ads, Jeep has dived right on in too.
The reason is simple - and it's why every major brand will continue to force-feed us AI ads until everyone quits moaning: can you guess what it is?!
In my view this one's actually worse than the McDonalds one from last week. That had some genuinely amusing moments. This is back to cute animals and trying to make them lovable. Unfortunately it looks like they didn't quality control the script much because it's a little bit wince-inducing - and the pay-off ain't great either.
The reason you're going to be seeing a ton more of these is because it's so, so, so much cheaper for brands to make. The laughs may be low but the quality is pretty impressive. Some complaining is fine - desirable, even, if you believe that there is no such thing as bad publicity. But this is training a new type of marketing team to be able to create ad content, not by creating some puddles for a car to arc muddy water from as the 'product' is cornering; instead to make sure that there is consistency in the AI's rendering of the interior and that the characters sound vaguely like they look.
These originals - Coke, McDonalds, Jeep - are rolling the pitch for so many others. You'll look back one day and the passions that these farily basic AI ads engendered will look very weird indeed ...
