OpenAI is reportedly diving into the hardware world, eyeing the development of a smart speaker, glasses, a voice recorder, and even a wearable pin!

In a bold move, they're poaching talent and suppliers from Apple, including former chief design officer Jony Ive. The first device, akin to a screen-free smart speaker, is expected to hit the market by 2026 or 2027.

OpenAI has already secured a contract with Luxshare and is in talks with Goertek, both key players in Apple's supply chain, to bring these AI gadgets to life. The partnership with Ive hints at a "family of devices," with the initial offering being pocket-sized and contextually aware.

While Altman previously dismissed the idea of smart glasses as their debut product, rumours suggest eyewear is on the horizon. The inclusion of a wearable pin is surprising, given Ive's past criticisms of similar devices. An in-ear gadget was also considered but is missing from the current lineup.

With Apple employees jumping ship to OpenAI, lured by promises of less bureaucracy and more collaboration, the AI giant is poised to shake up the tech world. As OpenAI taps into Apple's supply chain, the race to bring these innovative devices to market is heating up!
